Developments have ranged from a drone-related fire near a diplomatic mission to emergency transport measures

Over the past 24 hours, authorities and key institutions across the United Arab Emirates have issued a series of updates as the country continues to manage the operational impact of regional security tensions. Developments have ranged from a drone-related fire near a diplomatic mission and disruptions to digital infrastructure, to emergency transport measures and changes in the education sector. Below are the key developments businesses, institutions and residents should know.

Local media reported that a drone-related incident triggered a fire near the US Consulate in Dubai, according to officials, prompting a rapid emergency response. The Government of Dubai Media Office stated that the fire was swiftly brought under control by emergency response teams, who acted immediately after receiving reports of the incident.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) said one of its data-centre facilities in the UAE experienced a disruption after objects struck the site, sparking a fire and forcing a temporary power shutdown. The company told international media that it was working to restore services and advised customers to maintain data backups while connectivity issues were addressed.

Etihad Rail confirmed it transported more than 350 passengers between Al Ghuwaifat Station in Al Dhafra and Al Faya Station in Abu Dhabi, providing an alternative transport option during temporary flight disruptions. According to WAM, the operation was part of broader coordination with national authorities to maintain mobility during the disruption to aviation services.

India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed additional Class 10 and Class 12 examinations scheduled for March 5 and March 6 across Middle East schools, including those in the UAE. The decision followed a review of the regional situation, with new examination dates to be announced later.

Authorities in the UAE have extended distance learning for all public and private schools and universities until Friday, March 6. The decision, announced by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, applies to students, teachers and administrative staff nationwide while authorities continue to monitor developments.

The UAE government held a comprehensive media briefing in Abu Dhabi, bringing together representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Tourism, and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority. Officials said the briefing aimed to provide transparent updates on the regional situation and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to safeguarding national security, economic stability and the uninterrupted delivery of essential services.
